This family house in Broadstairs was looking tired & dated when the clients approached Gabriel looking for a redesign. The brief was for it to be a functional but stylish home for a young family with quality finishes & a comfortable feel.
The first improvement was to knock down a wall between the kitchen & dining room to make a large open & airy family space. Herringbone oak flooring was then fitted throughout & a new bespoke kitchen by Jack Morris was made based on Gabriel’s design.
The kitchen features a large central island with beautiful waterfall ends which is framed along the back wall by a tall built in china cabinet with fluted glass doors. A palette of inky blues on the cabinets perfectly off sets the muted white stone worktop.
A small study area for the client & her young son is located beside the French doors onto the garden & at the other end of the room is also a large built in larder.
The relaxed & calm feel to the interiors follows through into a new laundry & cloakroom where mosaic tiles have been used to add detail & texture. In the Dining Room a full size mural of historic London wall contrasts with the modern 1960’s tulip table & chairs & an italian designer sideboard is topped by a pair of modern table lamps.
The handmade roman blinds, window seat & cushions are a stunning geometric print by Christopher Farr Cloth made up by Philippa Design. Finally for the Sitting Room Gabriel selected deep compfy blue linen sofas off set with pink cushions & designed a wall of bespoke built in bookcases & cupboards with central fireplace with painted panelling above.
